Sholi in The Believer’s Music Issue

How incredibly awesome is this? Sholi’s mind-blowing cover of Iranian pop diva Googoosh’s song “Hejrat” (which, you’ll remember, we released on 7″) is included on the CD that accompanies this year’s Believer Music Issue, on stands now. What’s more, Googoosh herself is also included on the disc AND pictured on the cover (shown below). This is one of our favorite magazines ever, and it makes us really happy to see them helping to spread the Googoosh love. Good people, good music, good writing… awesome.

Holocene Music and Kill Rock Stars team up for new Shaky Hands album

Portland-based record labels Holocene Music and Kill Rock Stars have announced that they’ll be teaming up for the release of the much-anticipated sophomore album from Portland’s The Shaky Hands. The labels will split all aspects of the album’s release and promotion, and details such as release date and album title will be announced shortly.

The Shaky Hands were named Portland’s Best New Band of 2007 by alt-weekly Willamette Week, and recently had the honor of being asked to support The Shins on tour. Their self-tited debut was released on Holocene Music in the US on April 4th, 2007, before being picked up for UK release by Memphis Industries (The Go Team, Dungen) later that year.
